LUFTHANSA Cargo, together with German logistics firms and forwarders have launched a campaign for easier night flight regulations to prevent Germany's exports from being cut out of international trade flows.
The carrier has invested "massive sums" in new technologies to reduce aircraft noise pollution to residents living near airports, reported London's International Freighting Weekly.
Lufthansa Cargo CEO Carsten Spohr said Germany's status as the second-largest exporter is founded on its logistic expertise and is now in jeopardy without night flights against rival hubs of Amsterdam, Paris, London and Madrid where night flights are permitted.
"We are responsible for thousands of jobs in the logistics industry in Germany, which is an export and industrial nation," he said.
