LAN sees cargo traffic increase in 2010

Jun 24, 2010 Logistics

The chief executive of Chile's flagship carrier LAN Airlines said he expects the company's cargo traffic to grow by 30 percent this year, Dow Jones reported.

Despite his upbeat projections however, Enrique Cueto said that Latin America must liberalise and consolidate its airline industry.

"We are small and tremendously fragmented," Cueto said.

Airline liberalisation in Latin America would boost trade, Cueto said.

"There is no economic development that does not go hand-in-hand with airline development," he said.
