Jun 12, 2010 Logistics

MAXIMUS Air Cargo, an Abu Dhabi Aviation Group company, received industry recognition at the 2010 Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA) held at Grosvenor House Hotel, Dubai scooping the Cargo Operator of the Year with the company president and CEO Fathi H Buhazza taking SCATA Hall of Fame Award.

SCATA, which is now in its fourth year, has fast established itself as the opportunity for the Middle East logistics industry to honour high achievers who have set benchmarks in the region and beyond. Maximus's Cargo Operator of the Year award recognised how the airline had distinguished itself by delivering consistent industry-leading service in the Middle East and globally over the previous year.

Mr Buhazza took a staggering 43.5 per cent of a public vote for the Hall of Fame Award that honours leaders that have made valued contributions to the industry's growth over the years while raising the benchmark for regional and global excellence.

He spoke of the great honour of the airline's award that reflects the hard work and expertise of the Maximus team who have built the region's strongest all-cargo airline.

"Most importantly, I am grateful that many others like myself feel passionately about driving standards and best practice in our region. In the big picture, this is our ultimate goal and SCATA is a wonderful vehicle for recognising this," he said of his personal honour.

Maximus Air Cargo was established in 2005 to provide tailored solutions for moving outsized cargo. After operating for only just over four years in the region, it is now a significant regional air cargo carrier and cargo aircraft wet lease operator, employing more than 175 staff and operating a fleet of eight all-cargo Antonov An-124-100, Airbus A300-600RF, Ilyushin IL-76TD, and Lockheed Hercules L382G aircraft across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Maximus currently runs regular scheduled cargo services on behalf of Etihad Crystal Cargo and is the appointed exclusive air relief support partner for the UAE Red Crescent.
