CEVA to manage Bayer Material Science logistics in Spain

CEVA Logistics has signed a three-year contract with Bayer Material Science, a producer of high performance materials and innovative systems.


CEVA will manage the supply chain of Bayer Material Science in Spain for spare parts and chemical products including, coatings, adhesives, sealant systems, polycarbonates, polyurethanes and thermoplastic polyurethanes, a CEVA statement said.


The agreement includes the management of logistics activities in the plant in the Barcelona free trade zone, where CEVA will receive raw materials, send them for manufacturing and warehousing as finished goods.


As part of the contract, CEVA will also take charge of filling the drums of 200 kilogrammes, with finished material and prepare orders for product shipments across Europe. In addition, CEVA will send product samples for laboratory analysis and submit a report containing results on product quality to Bayer Material Science.


The second awarded contract will have CEVA dedicate 1,000 square metres of its logistics platform in Subirats, near Barcelona, to manage spare parts warehousing and handling activities. The logistics operator will also take charge of transporting spare parts to Bayer Material Science's main plant in Spain in Tarragona.


"This agreement allows us to focus on our core business by outsourcing our logistics activities to a reliable partner," said Bayer Material Science purchasing chief Juan Carlos Nebot.
