Fujian's traffic investment up 38pc in first four months

SOUTHEASTERN China's Fujian province spent CNY17.7 billion (US$2.6 billion) on traffic infrastructure during the first four months this year, an increase of 38.4 per cent over the same period in the prior year, Xinhua reported.


The sum represents 25.3 per cent of the province's annual target and 37.3 per cent of the total investment on the province's key development projects.


During this period, Fujian spent CNY5.8 billion on railway projects, which was 23.4 per cent of the target of this year, CNY8.6 billion on highways, taking up 23.3 per cent of the yearly target, CNY640 million on road and bridges, 26.9 per cent of the annual target, CNY2.4 billion on port and sailing channels, 50 per cent of the annual target and CNY170 million on airports, 20.5 per cent of the target.
