EUROGATE represented at transport logistic China 2010

EUROGATE, Europe’s leading container terminal operator group, is attending transport logistic China 2010, the International Exhibition for Logistics, Telematics and Transport in Shanghai for the third year running. The trade fair takes place from 8 to 10 June 2010 parallel to Expo 2010. For the first time, EUROGATE is sub-exhibitor at the collective “Seaports of Germany”.

“China continues to be the most important trading partner for our container ports,” says Thomas Eckelmann, Chairman of the EUROGATE Group Management. “EUROGATE has maintained intensive contacts to China for a number of years, not least also in the form of cooperation with the Shekou Container Terminal in Shenzhen. This year, our focus is on the “Seaports of Germany” initiative. We feel it is important that Germany as a seaport location is perceived as a strong entity. Germany has an excellent infrastructure. The major container ports, where EUROGATE is also active as terminal operator, are a mere 100 kilometres apart and are optimally linked by rail, road or inland waterway. Furthermore, the German ports are gateways to one of Europe’s strongest economies, as well as to the economic areas in eastern Europe and Russia.”

At the exhibition, EUROGATE will be presenting its container handling facilities in Bremerhaven and Hamburg, as well as in Wilhelmshaven, where Germany’s only deep-water container terminal is underway of contruction. In addition to its three German terminal facilities, EUROGATE operates eight others in Italy, Portugal and Morocco. The startup of operations at the Ust-Luga Container Terminal west of St. Petersburg/Russia is also planned for 2011.

At the joint stand, EUROGATE will also be presenting SecureSystem, a satellite-assisted container monitoring system developed by the aviation and aerospace company EADS Astrium in cooperation with EUROGATE and the logistics provider Hellmann.
