DHL today announced the appointment of Tom Wong as DHL Supply Chain's managing director, Hong Kong and Macau.
Building on growing business momentum of DHL Supply Chain in Hong Kong, Wong will lead the team to tap into emerging business opportunities in the strategic markets in the region, as well as strengthen synergy of the team to further enhance service quality and to further expand its footprint in these markets.
"At a time of a recovering global economy, customers are increasingly looking for flexible yet comprehensive supply chain solutions," said Victor Mok, executive vice-president, North Asia for DHL Supply Chain.
"With his industry experience and expertise, we are confident that Tom will drive our business growth in Hong Kong and Macau and tap into the emerging business opportunities in the growing region."
Wong joins DHL Supply Chain from SATS Hong Kong, a Singapore Airlines subsidiary that manages ground handling services, where he has held the position of chief executive officer since November 2008.
He also gained solid on-the-ground experience in Macau when he was executive director in Valeo Strategic Investments, and director of corporate development in Macau Eagle Aviation Services. Prior to that, Wong was with Cathay Pacific where his last position held was head of cargo sales for Hong Kong and China.
Hong Kong is a strategic market for DHL Supply Chain as the company continues to invest in its infrastructure and capabilities in the territory.
In March, DHL Supply Chain Hong Kong announced a $46 million investment for its Interlink facility to cater for growth in Hong Kong, underscoring DHL's commitment to further strengthen its leading position in the supply chain market.
"I am excited to join the DHL Supply Chain family at a time when customers are increasingly outsourcing their operations to logistics providers like DHL," said Wong.
"We have a strong business in Hong Kong and Macau and it is pertinent that we continue to focus on our operational fundamentals to deliver quality services and solutions for customers. I look forward to working closely with the team to continue to strengthen our leadership position."
