AMERICAN express delivery giant UPS has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the municipal government of Hefei, an eastern city of 4.9 million and capital of Anhui province, on stabling a shared service centre.
The facility will be the largest of its kind in the Asia Pacific region and is scheduled to start construction in August, Logistics Week reported.
UPS Asia-Pacific vice president Richard Loi said the shared service centre would re-integrate internal business processes in the form of service outsourcing and raise production efficiency and cost effectiveness through finance support, back-office sales and market support as well as provide hundreds of jobs.
UPS conducted an investigation for nearly six months in a number of cities including Wuhan, Chengdu and Hefei before deciding on Hefei.
