STATISTICS from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) and China Logistics Information Centre (CLIC) show that China's logistics industry achieved a value of CNY25.9 trillion (US$3.8 trillion) during the first quarter of this year, rising 20.8 per cent year on year after removing non-recurring factors.
The two organisations expect that the logistics industry value is to exceed CNY100 trillion by the end of this year, Logistics Week reported.
The added value of the industry increased 24 per cent to CNY596.1 billion, 22.8 per cent faster than the growth in the same period last year. Investment on fixed assets in the logistics industry grew 33 per cent to CNY346.5 billion, 7.4 per cent faster than the total investment on fixed assets in all industries.
An unidentified person from the CLIC quoted by the report said he expected that China's logistics industry value will grow at a rate of about 20 per cent in 2010, while cost of the industry will grow at about 15 per cent and added value of the industry at about 17 per cent.
