THE Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics Limited has elected Paul Tsui as HAFFA's new chairman for 2010/2011.

Mr Tsui, of The Janel Group of Hong Kong Limited, was elected along with the HAFFA 2010/2011 executive committee during the Association's annual general meeting.

"It is with great pleasure that I accept the role as HAFFA chairman for the upcoming year, and look forward to the opportunity to serve our industry as it continues to develop new methods of adapting to the changes and meeting the challenges that we face together as an industry," said Mr Tsui.

At its recent annual spring dinner, HAFFA looked back on the challenges over the last year, as well as the encouraging improvement in demand during the last quarter of 2009, which HAFFA hopes will lead to a stronger year ahead, it said in a statement.

"HAFFA's commitment to both serving the logistics industry and creating innovative solutions was furthered in 2009 with the adoption of several new measures and the introduction of new programmes. These measures helped the logistics industry weather the economic turbulence, and will provide exciting new opportunities in 2010," it said.

The new HAFFA chairman urged members to turn challenges into new opportunities: "It is vital that we continue to grow and improve our industry and capitalise on every opportunity that is presented to us. Many of our new programmes help our members adapt to the ever-changing logistics industry, such as our vocational training programme."

In addition to the principal officers, members of the newly elected committee are: YK Mok (Agility Logistics); Brian Wu (BEL International Logistics); Danny Wong (Cargo Freight Services); David Lau (Dachser Far East); Josef Ko (Danzas AEI Hong Kong); Eric Wong (Kerry Freight Hong Kong); Kenneth Chu (Morrison Express Co. Ltd); Sunday Chan (NAF Northern Air Freight); Collen Ho (Norman Express Ld); K S Li (U-Freight Ltd); and Samson Choi (Worldtrans Air-Sea Service).
