May 7, 2010 Logistics

German logistics group Lehnkering has awarded a contract for the construction of a new state-of-the-art gas tanker to Dutch shipbuilder TeamCo Shipyard on 23 April 2010, according to Logistics Finland. The building time will be around 14 months from the time of signing the contract.

The integrated pressurised gas tanks are manufactured in Germany by Gronemeyer & Banck. The new vessel will be propelled by two state-of-the-art, high-powered 634 KW engines with low fuel consumption. The gas tanker is canal-going and can also be deployed on inner waterways. It can be used for Lehnkering's entire range of gas products.

Including the new LRG GAS 88, Lehnkering's own gas tanker vessel fleet will rise to 17.

Lehnkering has reserved a further vessel (the LRG GAS 89) from the Dutch shipbuilder.
