DB Schenker has announced that Schenker Russia ZAO and Schenker Ltd have merged their organisational structures in Russia.
"Integrating our operations will not only allow us to strengthen and expand our competitive position in this important growth market," said Karl Nutzinger, CEO Europe Schenker AG, "the new structure will also enable us to provide our air and ocean freight customers with even more comprehensive service packages from a single source."
In Russia, DB Schenker's network operates from 20 company locations, mostly in the country's industrial west, utilising 60,000 square metres of logistics space, around 250 company-owned trucks, and employing 500 employees. The network extends from St Petersburg and Moscow to Krasnodar in the south and Novosibirsk in the east, including a national general cargo network of its own with daily departures from Moscow.
The company said it plans to expand distribution inside the country, as well as contract logistics and its global supply chain management system.
In terms of the customs union agreement between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, DB Schenker added that it is a partner of the Russian customs authority and a certified broker, and "is now bringing its structures in line with the new requirements," the statement added.
