Large quantities of pipes for the new Baltic Sea pipeline, through which Russian natural gas will soon flow to Western Europe, are currently being loaded at BLG CARGO LOGISTICS at Bremen's Neustadt port on behalf of the manufacturer, Europipe Mlheim/Ruhr. Two pipelines, each measuring 1,220 km in length, are being laid. The first ship, the IMKE, was loaded at the end of April. This was followed by the HUNTEBORG just a day later, and from 3 May onwards, a ship will be loaded every day.
The 12-m-long pipes, each weighing around 11 tonnes, are being delivered from Molheim by rail. A total of 18,500 pieces with an overall weight of some 205,000 tonnes are being shipped via Bremen. 50 ship departures are planned for this between the end of April and October. Their destination is the Finnish port of Kotka, where the pipes will be given a special concrete protective coating before being laid in the Baltic Sea.
