India and Nepal have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop rail infrastructure at five points along the Indo-Nepal border, Exim News Service informs.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 1,373 crore, the Minister of State for Railways, Mr K. H. Muniyappa, told the Lok Sabha.
The Jagbani-Biratnagar new line and the Jayanagar to Bijalpura gauge conversion and its extension up to Bardibas would be taken up in the first phase.
The detailed engineering survey for Jogbani-Biratnagar line has been completed and that of the Jayanagar-Bardibas line taken up, he added.
