DHL EXPRESS has relocated the headquarters of subsidiary airline European Air Transport (EAT) from Brussels, Belgium to Leipzig, Germany, in what marked the final step in the company's on-going efforts to consolidate its continental cargo services.
The Deutsche Post-owned group, which relies heavily on EAT for its European and African deliveries, was recently granted an operating licence for the carrier by the German Aviation Authority, reports the Journal of Commerce.
A total of 11 Boeing 757s were registered under the licence, resulting in an more-than 20 per cent increase in the size of DHL's current Leipzig fleet.
Trade unions ACLVB, LBC, and BBTK, have signed an agreement with DHL management for employees affected by the move.
