EVA Air, the second largest Taiwanese airline, is to re-launch its all-cargo service to Vienna on the back of rising demand from central and eastern European shippers.
The flights, which will add 36 to 60 tons of capacity, along with its three weekly passenger flights holding 24-36 tons in bellyholds, will deploy a Boeing 747-400f enroute on the Taipei/New Delhi/Vienna line inbound and via Vienna/Brussels/New Delhi/Taipei outbound, arriving Thursdays and Sundays at 1110 hrs, unloading and reloading, before taking off again at 1310 hrs.
EVA Air spokesman said demand grew in the last quarter of 2009 from Austria, according to American Shipper. "Demand from the central and eastern European region is especially promising and our target for the next few months is to meet these air freight needs with increased capacity," he said.
EVA Air provides a volume of 600 cubic metres on each Taipei/New Delhi/Vienna/Brussels/New Delhi/Taipei flight, accommodating as many as 72 pallets on the main deck and either nine pallets or 30 containers on the lower deck.
Cargo from its Asia/Europe routes include consumer goods such as laptops, television sets and parts, jewellery, gift items, textiles, electronics, entertainment industry equipment and mobile phones with return legs from Europe to include cars, turbines, solar energy equipment, wine, crystal jewellery, beverages and kitchen furnishings.
