Nippon Cargo to use Envirotainers for pharmaceuticals

NIPPON Cargo Airlines (NCA), in support of its new Pharmacare service for sensitive drug shipments, has signed a global lease with box maker Envirotainer for the provision of active temperature controlled air cargo containers.

NCA had been operating Pharmacare on a trial basis for 12 months using Envirotainer's RKN e1, RKN t2, RAP t2, and CLD t2 boxes. Customer feedback on the trials was extremely positive, said a company statement.

NCA cargo manager Kuniaki Inaoka said the Envirotainer experience had improved its knowledge of sensitive product handling because of the box maker's state-of-the-art procedures and quality monitoring.

Pharmacare markets itself as a specialised handling service based on procedures to meet customer requirements. It allows shippers to not only specify the internal temperature of their containers, but also ambient temperature in cargo holds.
