A PILOT run of a made-in-China mail tracking device using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has passed acceptance inspection and is ready to be launched, Logistics Week reported.
A joint China Post and Shanghai Research Institute project, this is the first time in China that RFID technology have been applied to mail tracking. The system was independently developed by Shanghai Research Institute.
China Post Guangdong office said RFID technology will be promoted in all mail services in the province this year. Shenzhen and Foshan office also aim to broaden the coverage of RFID reader to put all mail services in the province under tracking surveillance.
