Wilhelmsen Ships Service Eastern Med breaks 600 vessel Liferaft Exchange Scheme barrier

Mar 25, 2010 Logistics

Wilhelmsen Ships Service in the Eastern Mediterranean has broken a milestone barrier for its Liferaft Exchange (LRE) programme. The 600th vessel has just changed over its liferafts in a scheme operated by Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s international network. The programme offers a popular dockside exchange service ensuring that in-date liferafts are always carried on board ship, eliminating delays caused by servicing.

It is almost three years since the LRE program was launched, and the momentum continues to build as more and more customers choose Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s solution. There are now 640 vessels using the LRE agreement in the Eastern Mediterranean Area. Approximately 2,500 liferafts have been exchanged on Greek and Cypriot vessels. Since 1 January 2010 100 new vessels have joined the programme.
”We are very optimistic about the future of the LRE programme,” comments Vangelis Taratsas, Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s Sales Manager for Greece. “It helps bring us closer to what we all want - to become the shaper of the maritime services industry. We are able to use our extensive customer reference list as a powerful sales tool in front of new potential customers.”  He adds “The LRE operation is strongly supported by Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s technical expertise and sales team.”
