Efforts to back maritime industry

Mar 24, 2010 Logistics

The German government considers possibilities to back maritime companies - port operators, shipping firms, shipyards, suppliers and service providers - e.g. by placing public orders ahead of time, or within the scope of development projects such as a passenger ferry for Asia, and projects in Africa. Furthermore, proceedings related to a promotional programme of state-owned KfW could be accelerated. Federal states consider making more use of guarantees to secure funding shortfalls in the field of shipbuilding. Deutsche Bank has said it is in talks with several investors about the possibility to provide additional money over a period of three to five years, Logistics Finland reports.
