Poll marks coming corporate social responsibility worries

Mar 22, 2010 Logistics

A SURVEY of more than 70 corporate social responsibility (CSR) experts shows that climate change, governance, and labour rights will be the top three issues facing companies over the next 10 years.

Conducted by CSR training course provider CSR Asia, the survey found that businesses, in collaboration with NGOs, will likely take it upon themselves to tackle these concerns voluntarily in the future.

Other challenges raised in the findings include supply chain matters, the need for increased communication with stakeholders, the battle for the talent, the move towards community investment (and away from philanthropy), the growth of social enterprises, and the role of companies in poverty alleviation.

CSR Asia is hosting a summit in Kuala Lumpur on October 27-28 targeted at Asia-Pacific companies looking implement CSR initiatives.
