- Deutsche Bahn (DB) Port Szczecin has selected Autostore from UK-based Central Systems & Automation, as its new Terminal Operating System (TOS) deploying its Container Terminal, Warehouse and Resource management systems.

Mark Nauwelaers, CEO and managing director of DB Port Szczecin, said, “Autostore is a strategic business investment for us. It will give us the real-time operational control and flexible cargo management capability we need to help expand Szczecin’s position as the commercial gateway to the Baltic”.

“With real-time oversight and digital control of every aspect of our container, storage and resourcing operations, we are using technology to help drive productivity and profitability while enabling us to capitalise on the emerging opportunities within post-recession Europe,” he added.

DB Port Szczecin is on the main transport route from Scandinavia to Central and Southern Europe and serves as an international hub for sea, land and river transportation along major transport routes into Poland and neighbouring countries.

It is also the primary hinterland port for Berlin, with liner services into Benelux, Germany, Finland and West Africa.

Processing a wide range of containerised, general, heavy load, break-bulk and bulk cargo, Szczecin is also Poland’s biggest handler for granite imports from Brazil, South Africa, India and China.
