Mar 10, 2010 Logistics

AMERICAN Airlines Cargo continues with expansion in the opening of a relocated cargo terminal at John F Kennedy International Airport and its expanded terminal at Los Angeles LAX.

The New York facility now boasts three coolers for perishables, an environmental room and a live-animal handling area within a 41,148 square metres warehouse with 24 dock doors and a high-speed automated Elevated Transfer Vehicle handling system, reports American Shipper.

The new facility holds a storage capacity for 385 upper-deck containers and its six doors for processing bulk cargo allow it to bypass the regular freight handling activities with a unit move of 60 feet per minute.
