BDP International (BDP) is set to become a major player in India's logistics sector following the establishment of its new joint venture company.
The new subsidiary company - BDP Global Logistics (India) - is a joint venture between BDP and local logistics company Unique Global Logistics Private, with BDP as the majority partner. The new company will be headquartered in Mumbai with a presence in all major cities in India.
"As more of the world's largest manufacturers and retailers establish their operations in India, BDP sees an opportunity to contribute to the growing need for specialised logistics services," said Richard Bolte, president and CEO of BDP.
"BDP will target India's expanding chemicals, life-sciences, healthcare, retail, telecom and manufacturing industries. India is a key focus for BDP over the next decade as the nation emerges as a true economic powerhouse."
US-based BDP is one of the world's largest privately owned transport and logistics companies, with revenues in excess of US$1.6 billion and a presence in more than 120 countries. Its customers have included DOW, DuPont, Johnson and Johnson, Marks and Spencer and Revlon.
