FUJIFILM, the Japanese manufacturer of cameras and provider of photographic processing and printing equipment, has selected Kuehne + Nagel to be its contract logistics partner in Poland.
Fujifilm decided to outsource these logistics activities in order to consolidate the inventories of its three warehouses in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, a Kuehne + Nagel statement said.
Under the new agreement, warehousing services will be merged in Kuehne + Nagel's 10,000-square-metre facility in Chorzow, which is equipped to support inbound, put-away, pick and pack, outbound and inventory management.
On behalf of Fujifilm, Kuehne + Nagel will also be responsible for warehouse management, customs brokerage and value-added services such as sticking, labelling and plate cutting. A specific focus will lie on handling high-value goods and hazardous substances, for which a dedicated cold room area of 300 square metres has been built.
In order to communicate with Fujifilm customers' IT systems, Kuehne + Nagel has also implemented special interfaces within its global warehouse management system, it said.
"Kuehne + Nagel has been selected above others, because of their strong presence in Eastern Europe, their cost-effective operations and their IT strength," said Aad Goedendorp, manager corporate logistics of Fujifilm Europe.
"Both the hi-tech industry and the Eastern European markets are among the strategic focus sectors of Kuehne + Nagel," added Tobias Jerschke, managing director of Kuehne + Nagel Poland. "We are convinced that the Fujifilm project will lead to a promising joint development potential for both partners."
