InterRail and KTS to strengthen cooperation

The Swiss InterRail Holding AG, a member of the TransInvest Group, and Kaztransservice AG (KTS), the container company of “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, the Kazakh railways, are developing and strengthening their cooperation. Zhamboul A. Akhmetov, President of KTS, and Hans Reinhard, CEO InterRail Holding AG, St. Gall, signed specific Memoranda of Understanding during a workshop in Dubai in January.
The Memoranda relate to
• possibilities for  cooperation  in container transports of Kazakh grain going to Iran/Afghanistan and from there onwards to third countries;
• the intention to cooperate in the development and expansion of the terminal facilities at the Kazakh-Chinese border station Dostyk, in order to expand the capacities for the foreign trade and transit goods;
• general questions concerning the closer cooperation between the two companies such as representing each other with transports between Iran and Kazakhstan, and  optimizing and developing transports to and from India together.
Both companies and/or companies allied with them have been working together for years – for example in the local handling of Kazakhstan-bound containers from “Ostwind”, the container block train between Berlin/Germany and Central Asia.
At the signing of the Memoranda in Dubai, Hans Reinhard emphasized the role of Kazakhstan as an important traffic hub in Central Asia. “In the development of foreign trade and transit trade traffics, container transport has especially great perspectives. Kaztranservice is one of the biggest owners of the country’s container park and is continuously developing its international cooperation – even via an extension of its product portfolio towards conventional transportation and logistics. I am convinced that our closer collaboration will be beneficial to the development of international rail freight traffics in this region.”
