PERTH-based carrier Skywest Airlines bagged a year contract to freight West Australian Newspaper Holdings (WAN) flagship daily to north-west West Australia (WA) delivering The West Australian newspaper Saturday edition from March.
The daily newspaper will be air freighted to the northern population in the morning rather than late afternoon, and in the future will involve home delivery, improving the shelf life of the news product which showed flagging sales in the last three quarters.
"It's the first time it's happened, but we figure that if you get the paper there early, you can sell more copies," said WAN chief executive Chris Wharton in a Sydney Morning Herald report.
