The first train between Iraq and Turkey started its operations, BBC News reports. This service has been halted in 1980s, BBC News reports.
The train left the Iraqi city of Mosul yesterday, February 16, and is expected to arrive in Turkish Gazientep 18 hours later, before making the journey back. The distance to be covered by the train is approx. 500 km.
Both countries hope, that the re-opened railway line will help the trade between Turkey and Iraq to further develop.
