Jorg Eberhart appointed as new Managing Director at AeroLogic

Jorg Eberhart (40) has been appointed as new Managing Director of AeroLogic GmbH. He succeeds Dr. Thomas Papke (53), who is moving to a new post in charge of procurement at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines, effective 15 March 2010. Dr. Papke has been Managing Director of AeroLogic with responsibility for the entire operations division since 2007. During his tenure, he played a key part in the establishment and successful start-up of the cargo carrier.

Jorg Eberhart is currently Vice President Commercial, Marketing & Network at Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa's regional airline in Italy. A business management graduate and licensed Airbus captain, he will be taking up his new post at AeroLogic at the earliest possible date. His responsibilities as AeroLogic's Managing Director encompass Finance & Planning, Human Resources and IT.

Jorg Eberhart will manage AeroLogic GmbH jointly with Ulf Weber, who was appointed Managing Director of AeroLogic GmbH in mid-2009. His responsibilities include Flight Operations/Crew Training, Flight Safety & Quality, Maintenance and Ground Operations.

AeroLogic GmbH is jointly owned by DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo AG. The air cargo carrier has been flying for both companies on intercontinental routes since June 2009. It currently employs more than 120 people, including pilots. The AeroLogic fleet presently consists of four Boeing 777 freighters but the total fleet is scheduled to rise to eight of the type by the end of 2010. AeroLogic GmbH is based at Schkeuditz near Leipzig.
