HK's Asia Airfreight Terminal signs as Tiger Airways ground handler

Feb 5, 2010 Logistics

ASIA Airfreight Terminal has announced that Tiger Airways has become its latest customer, after the carrier appointed AAT as its cargo handler at Hong Kong International Airport.

This development comes as low-cost carrier Tiger Airways began operating flights between Singapore and Hong Kong from February 1 with two flights a day.

As ground time was crucial to Tiger's operation, it has only started providing cargo service on some of its routes recently. AAT's general manager for corporate development, Nelson Lee said, "We made the effort to understand the needs of Tiger, which prepared us to be a better partner in its business."

Tiger Airways commenced operations from its hub in Singapore in 2004 with two aircraft in its fleet and three routes in its network. Nowadays, the airline flies to more than 25 destinations across nine countries in Asia and Australia on a fleet of brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, a statement from AAT said.
