American Airlines offers air miles to air freight shippers

Feb 2, 2010 Logistics

AMERICAN American Airlines Cargo has started to offer cargo shippers frequent-flyer miles to reward customer loyalty, says cargo company president David Brooks.

Shippers can earn 2,000 points - the equivalent of an advance-booking, economy-class flight within the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico - for every US$40,000 in eligible shipping revenue. Air miles only apply to American's own flights, and not always for the full journey of the cargo.

Express freight earns an extra 20 points, while online bookings receive a bonus of five points.
