First Guangzhou-Macau direct and scheduled trucking service launched

Jan 28, 2010 Logistics

THE first direct and scheduled trucking service from Guangzhou to Macau has been inaugurated, bringing greater convenience for shippers by eliminating the need to transship via Zhuhai city.

Before the service Guangzhou shippers sending to Macau had to find a trucking company and wait until the company has collected a full truck of consolidated cargo before heading to destination. In order to avoid the need to wait, more shippers chose to move their cargo to Zhuhai, a city near Macau, to transship on to Macau. The whole process from shipping to collecting cargo takes about two to three days, according to the report from Logistics Week.

Beside offering a new direct route from Guangzhou to Macau, the new service also provides scheduled run like passenger coach service, eliminating the need to wait for full truck load or to transship in Zhuhai, hence reducing both time and cost for the shippers.

Trucking services from other Guangdong cities to Macau are underway. Services from Jiangmen, Dongguan and Foshan have already been launched. The number of such services will grow to five by the end of January.
