Alataw Pass trade cargo volume up 22.4pc in 2009

ALATAW Pass, a western China checkpoint on the border of Kazakhstan in Xinjiang, recorded a trade cargo volume of 23.2 million tonnes in 2009, up 22.4 per cent year on year, Xinhua reported.

Import cargo handled by the checkpoint soared 45.7 per cent up to 18.4 million tonnes, while export cargo shrank 24.4 per cent to 4.9 million tonnes.
