STARCO Group, Europe's supplier of tyres, tubes, wheel rims, complete wheels and stub axles, has commissioned Agility to carry out its procurement logistics. One key factor in the decision was Agility's tracking solution that makes it possible for STARCO to further enhance its supply chain and shorten its workflows.
Starting immediately, Agility will be responsible for transporting consignments from Asia to the STARCO plants in Germany, Britain, Belgium, Denmark, Poland and Latvia.
The first stage will see Agility handling all shipments to STARCOS Central warehouse location in Lüneburg/Germany, followed successively by the other countries until the complete volume of approximately 8,000 TEUs is shipped by Agility. Besides covering the comprehensive central logistics concept for every aspect of sourcing from Asia to the European facilities, the agreement also encompasses local clearance of
imports and process integration in the existing EDI systems.
Agility provides customers with a track and trace system allowing customized and dynamic shipment searches including configurable statistics and reporting. The tool is user friendly and provides customers complete visibility of their supply chain.
The solution helps STARCO to shorten its workflows and keep significantly smaller inventories.
"The tracking solution is our response to customer demands for a system that shows them the current progress of shipments at all times. This can only be done with a fast, precise and reliable tool that allows complete data transparency," comments Agility Europe CEO Beat Simon.
Andreas Thorborg, Group Logistics Coodinator STARCO , appreciates the simplicity of the system: "It was very important for us to be able to set up a flexible, user-friendly tracking system for our shipments. The Agility solution enables us to save huge amounts of time; we can make our procurement processes shorter and
simpler, which helps us to cut our inventory levels as well."
