The Czech government Monday okayed a draft amendment under which air transport operators are to be integrated into the EU's carbon credit trading system as of 2012, Environment Minister Jan Dusik told Prague Daily Monitor.
The European system will include as of the year 2012 all the air transport operators whose planes land and take off from the airports in the EU, said Dusik.
Airlines said earlier this would raise their costs.
The legislation has to be passed by Parliament, Senate and signed by the President.
The government fulfilled the goals of its broadband strategy after five years since around half of the population, over 58 percent of the adult population, uses the Internet. The share of high-speed connections increased from 23 percent in 2004 to 79 percent four years later, Interior Minister Martin Pecina said after the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet also approved a draft amendment on telecommunications which among others makes it possible to withdraw radio frequency, Prime Minister Jan Fischer said.
The amendment aims to ensure stable business environment and paves the way for adoption of the EU's third telecommunications package, according to Industry and Trade Minister Vladimir Tosovsky.
