Blue Air cancels Bucharest - Vienna flights

Jan 12, 2010 Logistics

Speculations over Romanian budget carrier Blue Air’s financial health are growing after the company cancelled flights between Bucharest and Vienna, Austrian Times reports.

The Bucharest-based airline said today (Fri) passengers who had bought tickets for flights on 13, 20 and 26 January would get their money back if they did not want to change their booking.

Romanian Times reported the discount airline citing "commercial reasons" behind the decision to cancel the flights.

Blue Air launched its Bucharest – Vienna route only last September, reportedly after Slovak competitor Sky Europe went bankrupt earlier that month.

Blue Air had a turnover of 124 million Euros in 2008 when it carried over 1.1 million passengers - over 22 per cent year on year.
