Cargo transport performance to increase

According to InnoZ, the innovation centre for mobility, Germany's cargo transport performance will rise by 4.5% to 607bn tonne kilometres in 2010. This follows a 13% decline in 2009. InnoZ said the sector currently sees only a small boost from the economy. At 5.5% performance growth will see the biggest increase in the rail sector, following an 18.5% drop in 2009. Road transport performance is expected to see a 4.5% increase in 2010 after a 12% fall. Following a 13% drop in 2009 performance in the river cargo shipping sector is set to rise by 3.5%, Logistics Finland reports.
