RUSSIA's rail freight container operator, TransContainer, has been continuing to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in Eastern Europe by developing a transit service between Russia and Ukraine.
This despite the general decrease in the volume of container traffic in 2009 moving between the two nations, said the Russian Transport Daily Report.
It said that in the first 11 months of 2009 TransContainer moved 2,044 TEU via the Far East Land Bridge that is part of the Trans Siberian railway and links Central Europe to China. The volume transported over this trade route was 40.6 per cent higher than in the same period a year earlier.
