Sofia Airport reports drop

Sofia International Airport reported a drop in passenger traffic during November 2009, in what is a continuation of a period of decline, Dnevnik daily reported on November 16 2009.

A total of 3455 aircraft either left from, or arrived in, Sofia during November 2009, a 5.8 per cent drop on November 2008, Dnevnik said.

Accordingly, the volume of passengers fell by three per cent, down to 213 218, or nearly 40 000 down from October 2009. Sofia Airport's busiest day was November 4 when 8247 passengers passed through.

According to statistics from the airport, cited by Dnevnik, in November the busiest carriers were budget airlines Wizz Air, EasyJet and Germanwings. Bulgaria Air and Czech Airlines also registered an improvement compared to 2008, although no specific data was provided.
