DB plans to cut 14,000 jobs

Dec 16, 2009 Logistics

According to AFP referring to the Tagesspiegel daily, Deutsche Bahn (DB) plans to cut 14,000 jobs in the next 5 years. Currently the company employs 240,000 workers, 182,000 of them in Germany.

Tagesspiegel quoted an unnamed member of DB’s supervisory board. As he said, such moves are necessary because of the global downturn.

No redundancies are planned for 2010, the same source told the German daily. Deutsche Bahn did not want to comment on the matter.
