Agility, a Kuwait-based global logistics company, earlier this month established a subsidiary in Slovenia and will create an Austrian unit at the start of April.
Agility's Slovenia headquarters are located at the Ljubljana international airport, while an ocean freight division will be based at the Port of Koper. An office for road freight is also planned.
Of the latest EU member states, Slovenia has one of the highest growth rates. Slovenia also stands out in comparison to other Eastern European countries due to its macroeconomic and political stability. Our logistics service offering will be focused on the European automobile and automotive suppliers as well as pharmaceutical and chemical industries, said Joe Globonik, head of Agility's Slovenia business, Agility Logistics d.o.o. He was previously managing director at Avico Air Cargo, Agility's exclusive agent for Slovenia.
Agility Austria will commence operations in Salzburg on April 1. Later in the month, there will be a second office opening in Vienna. Agility Austria is staffed with 20 employees and will offer air, ocean and road freight services.
Agility Austria ill act as a center to and from Eastern Europe. Both East as well as West Europe will benefit greatly from the direct access it offers to the most important growth markets combined with a link to Agility's global logistics network, said Friedrich-Johann Schupitta, director of Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Romania.
