GLOBAL power systems company Rolls-Royce has won an order worth GBP350 million (US$586.96 million), at list prices, for Trent 700 engines to power five Airbus A330 aircraft - two freighter aircraft and three passenger jets - for Turkish Airlines (THY).
The contract includes long-term 'TotalCare' service support. Aircraft deliveries are slated to begin in 2010.
This follows the July 2009 announcement that Trent 700 engines will also power seven THY A330 aircraft, a contract valued at $470 million at list prices, a statement from Rolls-Royce said.
"We are delighted that Turkish Airlines has again chosen Rolls-Royce technology to power additional A330 aircraft. The Trent 700 is a market leader and we are committed to working closely with the airline as they continue to develop their fleet," said Rolls Royce vice president Nick Devall.
The THY aircraft will also feature an enhanced performance version of the Trent 700 which is said to improve engine performance by a further 1.3 per cent.
