Oct 20, 2009 Logistics

HOPES mount in south Texas for federal grant approval to fund channel dredging by the US Army Corps of Engineers to enhance the fortunes of the Port of Corpus Christi.

Deputy port director Frank Brogan said if the agreement is reached, the US$1.1 million in federal funds would allow tenders to be called in the next few months.

So far, projects include design and dredging of a dock, landside improvements of utilities and paving for rail access to the La Quinta port area, according to the Corpus Christi Caller Times newspaper.
