FedEx boosts Asia – Europe connection

Oct 15, 2009 Logistics

FedEx Express has enhanced its overnight services between Asia and Europe with the introduction of a new next-business-day service connecting mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore with France and Germany.

The service enhancement will provide a one-business-day transit time to Europe for FedEx International Priority® shipments originating in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore destined for Frankfurt, Cologne and Paris, from Monday to Thursday.
The Asia-to-Europe connection is an important link for business in the region, with the air cargo market expected to expand at an average annual rate of 6.5% in the next two decades.

Of the three markets that the new Asia-to-Europe next-business-day service supports, mainland China and the European Union have become two of the biggest traders in the world. EU imports from China increased by 6.5% in 2008, and the EU became Singapore's biggest trading partner and is the second-largest export market for Hong Kong's electronics industry.

The service enhancement is a part of FedEx's ongoing focus on and significant investment in Asia, which includes the opening of its Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou in February, eyefortransport reports.
