'Jumbo Javelin' works on wind farm

Engineers and crew on board Jumbo Offshore’s heavy lift vessel ‘Jumbo Javelin’ have successfully installed their first Transition Piece (TP) off the UK southeast coast.

The transportation and installation was all achieved using the single DP2 vessel, which performed trials in levelling, grouting and removing the TP.

The 255-tonne piece was installed as the ‘Jumbo Javelin’ positioned  next to the monopile using DP and lifted the TP from her lower hold. Leveling and grouting procedures were tested.

The entire operation was completed in approximately 24 hours and was performed as planned in respect to every detail with a strong emphasis on safety.

The ‘Jumbo Javelin’ is able to carry nine TPs at a time, each with weights up to 300 tonnes. All the TPs can be stowed vertically in the vessel and transported to the offshore location.
