Ventspils in January-August 2007

During the 8 months of the current year Ventspils increased its cargo turnover by 9% - up to 21 485 thousand tons.

In January-August 2007 the port handled 13 104 thousand tons (+11.7%) of oil-bulk cargo, including 1 485 thousand tons of crude oil (+53%), 11 619 thousand tons of oil products (+8%). Mineral fertilizers handling increased by 7% (up to 2 305 thousand tons), coal – by 2% (up to 2 740 thousand tons), containerized cargo – by 16% (up to 107 thousand tons). Logs handling decreased by 19% (to 263 thousand tons), at the same time other timber cargo handling grew by 15% (p to 315 thousand tons). Grain turnover came up by 3.5 times (up to 329 thousand tons), raw sugar turnover reduced by 22% (to 187 thousand tons). Handling of peat decreased to 35 thousand tons (-15%), ro-ro cargo – to 1 147 thousand tons (-6%). Non-ferrous metal turnover grew by 2.9 times (up to 70 thousand tons). Besides, other cargo handling came +up by 91%.

Compared to the last year same period result container turnover of Ventspils grew by 26% - up to 11 612 TEU.
