Kingfisher Airlines launches inaugural flight from Hong Kong

BANGALORE's Kingfisher Airlines yesterday launched its inaugural flight from Hong Kong providing the only daily non-stop flight to Mumbai aboard an Airbus A330-200, which was filled to capacity.

Kingfisher Airlines flight IT 072 departed Hong Kong International Airport at 1405 hrs and arrived 1750 hrs in Mumbai, having taken off from Mumbai the day before at 1255 hrs and arrived at O805 hrs yesterday in Hong Kong.

Starting today, Thursday, Kingfisher will launch flights between Singapore and Mumbai. The launch marks the first time Kingfisher has flown to east Asia. Hong Kong will be its sixth international destination.

"There is tremendous potential for this route," said Kingfisher director AK Ravi Nedungadi, also president and CFO of the UB Group, India's big alcohol beverage producer and owners of Kingfisher beer.

Kingfisher Airlines declared it is India's only Five Star airline rated by Skytrax, and the only one to offer premium first class service on domestic routes. Kingfisher Airlines is a part of the UB Group that is one of India's largest conglomerates with "diverse interests and a global presence".
