US-based Multi Service Corporation and BP Marine Fuels have formed a joint venture to expand on the success of the US Government SEACARDSM Program, developed for the US Department of Defense.
The venture, named Altivis, will introduce an online fuels ordering system to the commercial shipping market, just as the US Government SEACARDSM Program introduced this concept to contract marine fuel merchants that supply the U.S. Government.
A statement says: “Altivis will significantly expand on the functionality offered through the US Government SEACARDSM Program in order to better equip bunker buyers and ship operators managing the multi-faceted requirements associated with procuring and managing ships bunkers.”
It adds: “The SEACARD project has demonstrated the value of an online fuels ordering system. It has significantly improved the efficiency of the order-to-cash cycle and information management, as compared to traditional, paper-based systems.”
