The Swedish Road Haulage Association (Sveriges Åkeriföretag) and the Transport trade union have called on the Swedish government to introduce tougher measures to monitor that cabotage rules are being followed in Sweden, Logistics Finland reported. The industry believes there is a real risk that jobs in the industry could be lost as foreign truck drivers unlawfully transport domestic goods in Sweden.
The Association wants regular checks to be carried out by the police to monitor cabotage violations, and has called for substantial fines in excess of SEK 100,000 (EUR 9,807 USD 14,275) for companies that do not follow these rules.
