Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) eyes AIR CARGO INDIA 2010 to boost its cargo prospects

Sep 7, 2009 Logistics

Cologne Bonn Airport is situated in the middle of Europe’s strongest economic region where much of the import and export business is carried out (2.5 million ton of air cargo within 250 km around CGN). In the beginning of this year, the airport inaugurated the opening of its new 15,000m2 cargo centre. The ‘Cologne Bonn Cargo Centre’ reflects the airport management’s stronger focus on general cargo and a sustainable future expansion of this traffic.

CGN is currently Europe’s only airport that serves its cargo customers with full range logistical support services (including airport infrastructure, ramp and cargo handling and a full trucking network) from a single source.

And what better option for them than to look towards India, which has a large extent remained unscathed by the economic recession. “Thanks to its hefty stockpile of international reserves, India was able to weather the sudden reversal in capital flows at the height of the financial storm. The country's resilience has boosted investor confidence, and in recent months, foreign capital has again poured into Indian equity markets.”

“The Koeln-Bonn airport sees a good opportunity in AIR CARGO INDIA 2010, to achieve the objective of future expansion of traffic. India’s international and domestic cargo market has been growing and commercial airplanes have been adding more cargo capacity on its belly space. We see that the international biennial event scheduled to take place during February 2-4, 2010 offers a huge networking opportunity, as the leading lights of the air cargo industry are participating. We hope to capitalize on this opportunity to tap this growing market.” says, Mr Franz Heuckeroth van Hessen, Director Cargo and Sales.

Cologne Bonn airport has already become the SILVER Sponsor for the event. They have joined the ranks of Sharjah International Airport, IBS Software Services the Platinum Sponsors and Kingfisher Airlines and Cargoitalia , the Gold Sponsors for the event.
